This work was inspired by the story of King Sukjong of the Joseon Dynasty, who loved his cat. The landscape drawn under the king is a court decoration called “Irworobongdo.” This court decoration used to be placed on the back of the king's throne and completed when the king sat in front of it. This particular “Irworobongdo” I drew symbolizes people who see their cat as their part of life. By emphasizing the moon and sun, I represented that love for cats transcends time.
